I have a lot to learn about taking photos with my new iPhone 14 Pro. At least I have a head start from many years of using cameras of all shapes and sizes.

I remember watching this science documentary show when I lived in Hamilton, Ontario in the late ‘70s.

I’ve installed MacOS Ventura on my 2017 iMac. So far it’s doing well. I am concerned about slowdowns with new MacOS versions but perhaps the 32 GB or RAM is helping out.

A challenging but rewarding interview with science fiction author Kim Stanley Robinson. It’s a long read but definitely worth your investment in time.

I’m presently listening to “The Dark Hours” by Michael Connelly which is a Renee Ballard mystery/thriller. It’s book 4 of the author’s new series with Ballard who is a police detective in LA seemingly becoming a bigger presence in the author’s books than an aging Harry Bosch. Actually one of the interests in listening to this novel is the fact that Bosch does have a role and his part is narrated by Titus Welliver who plays the character in the TV series.

I’ve gotten a library card here in Snohomish County and I’m enjoying and wide selection of audio and e-books available in the library collection.

The world might be a better place if we followed some of the ideas of one Buckminster Fuller. I got interested in his ideas over 40 years ago when I was living in Hamilton, Ontario and doing post doctoral research in chemistry at McMaster University. I might have been inspired to read one of his books after attending a talk there by Ted Nelson of hypertext fame and a Fuller enthusiast.

The Fall foliage map always intrigues me especially since my wife and I have a small house in Northern New Hampshire where we’ve spent each Fall until this year. We are now, of course, West Coast dwellers and we’ve seen some colors in this area of late. This photo from today is at Roche Harbor.

The excellent things about Micro.blog is that it is increasingly keeping me away from Facebook. The service is definitely becoming more alluring as I accumulate more Micro.blog friends.

We are actually here at Roche Harbor on San Juan Island for an event wedding. And the bride and groom couldn’t have asked for better weather.

I have just discovered that Drafts has an action allowing me to write there and post directly to Micro.blog.

The Captain of our ferry out of Anacortes today announced the siting of two “killer whales” (orcas) on our starboard side. The ferry slowed down and we got a good look at these two in their natural environment although it was too brief a view.

We arrived in Roche Harbor on San Juan Island for a couple of days. The air here is clear which is a relief from the smoke that has been encompassing Seattle recently.

The air in and around Seattle continues to be smoky. We have enjoyed this unseasonably dry weather but the downside is the lack a good breeze to clear out the smoke.

A good piece here from Dave Winer. Interestingly I’ve been following Winer’s blogging for well over 20 years and have only recently discovered Microblog.

Back at the Edmonds Condo and this time we’ve moved in for good. Of course, all of our Atlanta possessions have yet to arrive so we kind of feel like we are camping out.

Getting ready to move into our Condo from this AirBnB. We are presently in Ballard, WA and are moving a few miles north to Edmonds.

The T-Mobile Home internet device arrived and has been working well, although I’m a little concerned about speeds for uploading photos to my Flickr account. More on that later.

I am waiting for the delivery of a T-Mobile Home Internet 5G device. It could be arriving anytime between today and Monday.

Seattle Sailing was a fun excursion yesterday and we were happy that there was a breeze. It cleared away the smoke over the Seattle area and also allowed the boat to really sail. A few weeks ago friends did the same excursion but lack of wind meant it was all under motor.
